Dear all

This announcement might seem a bit meaningless as you plough through
your semester 1, 2007 workload, but in the scheme of University
business, it is very pleasing that Information Studies @ Curtin has been
recognised in this way with a Carrick Citation. We had earlier been
recognised by Curtin for the same thing and the process was that Curtin
picked the best of its citation awards and submitted them to the
Carrick Institute for Learning and Teaching in Higher Education Ltd for
deliberation in its award scheme. The award covered the period up until
the end of 2006 which is why Glenn Pass, who joined us this year, is not
mentioned. The website is at:
http://www.carrickinstitute.edu.au/carrick/go/home/awards

This will give us something else to chat about at the Information
studies morning tea tomorrow 14th August 2007 in the Humanities staff
tea room, 2nd floor building 209. See those of you who can make it,
then

Kerry and all from Information Studies @ Curtin

Colleagues

I have great pleasure in drawing your attention to the current Note to
Staff fro the VC, setting out winners of 2007 Carrick Australian Awards
for University Teaching (CAAUT) Citations for Outstanding Contributions
to Student Learning.
The Information Studies at Curtin team, consisting of Kerry Smith, Paul
Genoni, Margaret Pember, Maggie Exon and Christine Richardson, won a
Citation: For enhancing student learning in Information Studies through
commitment to flexible learning environments and embedding of practical
professional knowledge to focus the students' learning experiences

Winning this Citation is a major achievement, and recognition of the
amount of work, initiative and skill that the Information Studies group
has applied to the learning process.

On your behalf, I offer all members of the team my warmest
congratulations.

Regards

Colin
