[Hum-DIS] Referencing your assignments and APA

Dear all

I don't monitor the Library website for APA on a daily basis. The
bottom line is that they have omitted the need for page numbers for
quotes and this is not correct. You need page numbers if they are
available.

I've checked the APA website and it has two sets of instructions - so
that does not help. The Library is getting in touch with APA to clarify
this. I will let you know the outcome if and when I can. So if someone
tips me off is/when the new instructions are on the Library website,
that would be a great help.

Kerry

Hello all,
So for those of us newcomers... dont use either of the library reference
sheets until they have been amended? I've looked at the reference sheet
examples and the tables do include page numbering, but agree it isnt
clearly stated.
Maybe we can get an email to alert us when corrected?
Bye

Dear all

Those of you who have been with us a while should be well grounded in
the use of APA.

HOWEVER: we have noticed that the Library's APA reference sheet (see:
http://library.curtin.edu.au/referencing/index.html then:
http://library.curtin.edu.au/referencing/apa.pdf
does not clearly state that where you have a direct quote, page
numbers must be given in the in-text referencing. This also applies
when page numbers are included in electronic texts.

We have asked the Library to amend their version.

All at Information Studies.
