I have attached an extract of the NSW Branch of the Australian Society
of Archivists Inc newsletter. It contains details of their next branch
meeting to be held on 18/4/2007 at the Sydney Records Centre. They have
invited distance education students to attend the meeting. (The
invitation has been sent directly to students from Murdoch and Edith
Cowan Universities.) I have been asked to forward this message to any
Sydney-based distance students of archiving from Curtin.

Please respond directly to Angela McGing (
amcging at cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au <mailto:amcging at cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au>
) by Wednesday 11 April if you want to attend. Sorry for the late
advice, and I hope to meet you there.

*APRIL MEETING – MEET THE ARCHIVES STUDENTS*

**

The next Branch meeting will be on Wednesday 18 April 2007, at 5.30 for
6.00pm.

Venue: Sydney Records Centre (State Records Authority of NSW) 2 Globe
St, The Rocks.

This will be an opportunity for Branch members to meet Sydney and NSW
based students who are undertaking distance-learning studies to obtain
archives qualifications. The meeting will be an informal event, to
introduce students to the ASA NSW branch members and to discuss how we
can assist with networking and professional development opportunities.
The meeting will also provide an opportunity for us to find out more
about what the students want or need, such as mentoring, access to
professional literature, or field work placements. Also, some at the
meeting could turn out to be future employers or employees!

Some of us will be going to dinner afterwards, and you are most welcome
to join us for that as well.

Students who are planning to attend: please RSVP to Angela McGing (
amcging at cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au <mailto:amcging at cityofsydney.nsw.gov.au>
) by Wednesday 11 April.

Sue McKemmish (Monash) and Karen Anderson (Edith Cowan) have e-mailed al
current and recent students advising them of the meeting.
