The idea to develop this special issue grew from conversations within the Women & Psychology Interest Group, as we considered the unfolding gendered dimensions and impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic in our work, communities, and practice. There were many directions
that this special issue might have taken around aspects of both gender (binary, non-binary, fluid…) and community psychology (theoretical, values-based, empirical, practice-based, lived experience, public policy…). The ensuing eleven contributions have between
them taken a range of these paths. But in terms of focus, two content clusters emerged: gendered violence, and diverse sexualities and gender identities. They also highlight several core community psychology understandings typically shared with feminist frameworks,
including collaboration, connectedness, systems-level analysis, intersectionality, and social power relations – and not least, the second-wave feminist maxim, “the personal is political”.</div>

As a community psychology journal that is independent from large publishing houses, ACP relies entirely on collaboration, connection and collegiality. The editors of this special issue would like to thank all of the people who contributed and worked incredibly
hard to see it through to publication. </div>
