<p><span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 128); font-family: Verdana;"><font size="2">To commemorate the 15th anniversary of the inclusion of sexual orientation and gender identity as attributes protected under the Equal Opportunity Act, the Victorian Equal Opportunity
and Human Rights Commission developed a series of short films featuring prominent LGBTI community members titled Pride, not Prejudice:</font></span></p>

<div style="margin: 0px;"><font><b><font color="#555555" size="2">Pride not Prejudice: LGBTI and equal opportunity</font></b></font></div>
<div style="margin: 0px;"><font size="2">Only 15 years ago in Victoria LGBTI people had no protections under law against discrimination on the basis of their sexual orientation and gender identity. It was clear the law needed to change to institute measures
to combat homophobia, transphobia and social prejudice in the general community; and to promote and protect the human rights of people of all sexual orientations and sex and/or gender identities. Due to the hard work and tireless advocacy of many individuals
in the community, that change finally came in 2000 with the inclusion of two new attributes – sexual orientation and gender identity – to the Equal Opportunity Act. </font><i style="font-size: small;">Pride not Prejudice: LGBTI and equal opportunity </i><span style="font-size: small;">features
interviews with prominent members of Victoria’s LGBTI communities 15 years after the amendment came into effect, many of whom recount the struggle and remind us all of the battles fought, the effect the law changes have made and the work still to be done.</span><span style="font-size: small;"> </span></div>

<div style="margin: 0px;"><font size="2"><i>Pride not Prejudice – LGBTI and healthcare</i> features interviews with healthcare professionals and members of the LGBTI community discussing the challenges faced and opportunities available to provide better healthcare
to all members of the community. The series has been produced by <a href="http://www.humanrightscommission.vic.gov.au/index.php/about-us" target="_blank"><font color="#3399CC">the Commission</font></a> along with RMIT Master of Media students, and <i>Pride
not Prejudice – LGBTI and healthcare</i> is the first of the student-edited films to be published.</font></div>

<div style="margin: 0px;"><b><font color="#555555" size="2">Pride not Prejudice: LGBTI and Aboriginal identities</font></b></div>
<div style="margin: 0px;"><font size="2"><i>Pride not Prejudice: LGBTI and Aboriginal identities</i> is the second film in the series and features fascinating interviews with members of Victoria’s Aboriginal LGBTI community, including bryan Andy, Tim Goodwin,
Deborah Cheetham AO, Rhys Kinsey and Mark McMillan, who provide insight into some of the issues specific to Aboriginal communities and LGBTI people.</font></div>

<div style="margin: 0px;"><b><font color="#555555" size="2">Pride not Prejudice: Expunged homosexual convictions</font></b></div>
<div style="margin: 0px;"><font style="font-size: small;">Featuring interviews with Anna Brown, Jamie Gardiner, Graham Carberry, Clem Newton-Brown, Lauren Matthews and the Hon. Martin Foley MP, the film talks about the impact these historical homosexual convictions
have had on people’s lives, why it was so important to allow the expungement of the records, and why we need to protect people from discrimination on the basis of an expunged homosexual conviction. The series has been produced by the Commission along with
RMIT Master of Media students, and</font><font style="font-size: small;"> </font><font style="font-size: small;"><i>Pride not Prejudice – Expunged homosexual convictions</i></font><font style="font-size: small;"> </font><font style="font-size: small;">is the
second of the student-edited films to be published.</font></div>
