a Kurdish-Iranian journalist and writer detained on Manus Island since mid-2013, illustrates many of the problems and devastating human rights consequences of our current asylum seeker laws, policies and practices. Please join the panel conversation in considering
this case, and its wider implications for what must be changed in order to prevent such violations of human rights, particularly in the context of the current events on Christmas Island and the critical review of Australia’s immigration detention policies
by the UN Human Rights Council. </span></p>
