This is a request for support for Young Media Australia, a national community
organisation that provides information and advocacy on <br>
children and the media: <a href="http://www.youngmedia.org.au">www.youngmedia.org.au</a>.
I am a Director of YMA, and have asked to help it with a crisis situation. <o:p></o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p>
<p class=MsoNormal>For many years, YMA has been a strong advocate for reducing violence
and improving quality in children’s media, as well as addressing issues
like advertising to children and pester power. It also tries to get as much
information out as possible to support parents in the choices they have to make
about movies, TV, the internet and so on. <br>
<br>
YMA has been going for 50 years, but because of the vagaries of government
funding the money sometimes gets very tight. Now <br>
is such a time, as a number of projects are coming to an end and it has received
a few knockbacks on other proposals. It will be forced to let staff go unless
it can secure some extra funding immediately. It has received some excellent
advice about how to get onto a more <br>
sustainable footing, but has an immediate need for about $10,000 to cover a
couple of months of staff time. <br>

YMA does is so valuable, it would be a shame to see it fail because of this
