<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">In the face of unprecedented media attention, public debate and recent direct experience of the imminent dramatic effects of overheating in the earth’s biosphere, a number of APS members have called for Psychology to show its hand as a contributor to the search for sustainable solutions. This PD event aims to educate, inspire and equip psychologists in how to participate in debates and action around climate change and other environmental challenges. A group of local practitioners has put together a presentation to activate professionals wanting to contribute to solutions to climate change threats. This will be followed by a workshop facilitated by Psychology in the Public Interest to:</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· prepare psychologists for how to communicate effectively with others about environmental threats</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· help professionals to develop their own personal, organizational or community-based projects for promoting sustainable behaviour </FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· consider the potential contribution of psychological science to workable long-term changes in the collective impact of human behaviour on the planet</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">The workshop is designed to meet the professional development needs of psychologists in their workplaces and practice settings. The workshops is for: </FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· Community psychologists with an interest in environmental impact assessment and the promotion of individual and communal conservation behaviours</FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· Health psychologists concerned with promoting healthy environments and environmentally salutogenic behaviours</FONT>
<BR><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· Organisational psychologists looking to be at the cutting edge of organizational and systems-level responses to climate change </FONT></P>
<P><FONT SIZE=2 FACE="Arial">· Any psychologists working with people who are likely to be affected by the impact of climate change and other environmental issues</FONT></P>
