This webinar looks worthwhile for anyone working directly with people seeking asylum in Australia, and also for anyone who'd like to be better informed about the legal and practical issue involved in the process.

This presentation will outline the work of the Refugee Advice & Casework Service and will provide an understanding of the asylum seeker process for those seeking and obtaining protection including the visa process. In particular it will 1. Give an overview of the legal process including impacts on mental health 2. Outline trauma informed practice at RACS 3. Discuss how psychologists can help clients cope with the legal process 4. Discuss how psychologists can help by providing mental health reports (examples will be given of what RACS request in these reports) 5.Outline legal support services for refugees/asylum seekers in other states 6.Provide a brief overview of the family reunion and humanitarian entry pathways.
