Subject: National College Update April 2020
Dear Members,
This is an update from your APS College of Community Psychologists National Committee. We hope you are all well and safe in these unusual times. The committee met last week and we have some important information to share with you.
Our previous plans for some PD events have been waylaid due to the coronavirus lockdown, but we are looking at a few PD activities over the next few months.
The first of these, on Tuesday 5 May, will be the second of our Zoom Cafe series, where the guest presenter will be our national Chair, Helen Killmier. Just follow this link to join the Café. No need to RSVP. https://ecu.zoom.us/j/94616398277?pwd=TElHWWYvNHZ3RXpHM0V5RTJZdmc1QT09<http://be.psychology.org.au/ls/click?upn=xftCvoRZRbcW1HUP8zfNNF2S00cmeUzpcOzBQERULtUJJ53gT348mf-2Fzh1wfc9tG44Fajps2hDBe8srjkf2h3pz-2F11L0G-2BsjKxYOOo84BmE-3Db3eR_LkNaGjuMCrzJijP9uh5w51wVkQcRLq1ZICyrjgtqsTuyIgdWELvEZEvIJINbjO8Hjz58kfeNYtGAsWMDOHlLEAPCqlyhc0PGpa8h6-2BmqHs2U8CqZtaCEpVSBHtmVallJK5aYAN64JXnu0YWRI4Rn20rUc-2BRBhgge8iVc7FQSMeZhfB54wINKY3nFqoH3TMNocsH7Bx-2FMP2oW4IHDDrWPTuWo8ZtLOV7Z-2BvAsI0zjZljI-2FBBS0eNN7D8FwsR3dViw>

We were particularly disappointed that the 8th International Conference in Community Psychology could not take place as planned for Melbourne in late June. But we understand that plans are underway for some significant components of the conference to be offered online throughout the second half of this year, hopefully culminating in a 'hybrid' face-to-face and virtual conference early next year.
We are planning to record a webinar related to family violence and the coronavirus in May, with the collaboration of the Women and Psychology Interest Group. You will hear more about these events in a few weeks time.
You may not be aware that the APS will organise Zoom meetings for peer supervision meetings during the Corona crisis, on behalf of member groups. If you would like to do this for your College members' supervision group, just contact Member groups on membergroups at psychology.org.au<mailto:membergroups at psychology.org.au> or complete the online form at simple online booking form<http://be.psychology.org.au/ls/click?upn=BfUsH8m5eyuUoH4xTSie3P7soyBY6orVUrBcLUVWLILqgOKz0VctEmfDYx7dH-2Bo73TXSoaAAiPGV-2Bxpp-2FbOI-2FrTroHRzI77EE7gf-2FUoqcY1jQF2uq6lJCwUMUCRs-2FKaX44oQnQlLMrHQCY3sm-2FJHi221FqSYJSIBcZuy8xZC8xxTUXNKIKSa1w4Fw9jC-2Fch8D3g9vQCgNb2IfmYux1gx2zHhBHsg6MHxnFfo44uvFT9KdqrVfp-2FEcdPxpiCLeGJBTCX5ruxXeD7vN4TqsbOIDrnywUqKuYZYQ2N8HYksUdbOs24g6-2FGKlzve56JX-2FMXQBP8-2Bls-2F8bvqSZVM-2FRNs0ScQ8wvuzLfmYOo-2FWPXSVwog0MaTh2d1z2Q-2FFIc5bX5xDWKNRHcgOcHryrZs5vspTnfjDzbuUxNrdgvRkELWj07qtZnodNbCXhCK-2B5IijbDInfIcua7xhPu-2F3hbR7IetqA6yNtzoNBKUQfPH4ZXWtAzviKTNuapWeApv2u1oQIXRvNiHpL-2FtGTR8o6a318XObx2CXO6aKo5ypa-2BiGCYAMFSZMozb-2FBEu5ncedW7y8bLLt9MUDtXihyuTemdzCXBUpPv9vXpkIVLUS-2B0IkLv5mg0UiejpO3b9vdGdFjLkTBoc6ix-2Bds-2B3-2F-2BGDD4gaz19MZIy0H7KEY9Af37LNW7pzmJ8p8-2FXSOIXaBOyvJTat9-2BPNDkdw1fNmOUyAWWM5hp53UNDLgSQYz-2FwBJI3Ke33Btr-2FJ4Dy-2Fb1sNHjdou-2Bi06bCu-2F-2BySES5twHxbXrbs8yp0DDFN8YFg-2Fyxkfbo2O6Awz4A7Ybg-2FXpq3ZkrgI-2Bv18D684O4zAqwHGvLYHJuRj8snLH5HnF4eIzZmDStkv98KDoZxRa7Fu-2B6V1hsjXu0CuHpMA-2F9UCNp023vw2kQlbbo-2Bm6i1VZUtq2s40QTLuibjBh1vTH-2FaYehJOndKzZLltz-2BXoAbtTU4VM3NaQZEM-2BXN51LGu2lCHJUh-2FGzhVp6Rnovg0o0qS69gQOzUIG-2F8oE72ZV1FNAGVnYpCKzYXPLLOSn-2FIMMYs9NDyFlRvnpyBmpPJi7Fp9VKR0jOzJteqbRBpzGhGuRsRvC8f1JOCH9xpXAeZt3Lv2WlPIfrIejbd7CFQEizRdUnMO-2FYX7eS42KUIWFhyzSekEFMjqYgzII4vTJ6uCk8LWE8LCsEv6GDOxNKTy1W3mKlWxmUlzMcf6JHnEupEP8wEFcaqMyEebWlnM-2FwauMo0wxyoh-2FwaeC8F4Mrdovik3CaHEnBhrjg9mRZ76JZxdX_LkNaGjuMCrzJijP9uh5w51wVkQcRLq1ZICyrjgtqsTuyIgdWELvEZEvIJINbjO8Hjz58kfeNYtGAsWMDOHlLEMYLaZ2I3NRfzeCduN4TjXyVNIuCUkrYyIsHoW47fp-2BTNtMhWtyhhgP66kvNqFJz0cn6MfZXYoq8Y9yZWKayUmAI6DkDsQgjLzVLMG-2FZ4UM9Xvw9ncOJlkcpl9FqnZ9-2FM-2Bi3YZJtI0yYhWn6DI4-2FI23Xp0QbgmGdEyIOcKa-2FURJ1> Or you can let the College committee know if you'd like to be put in contact with other members interested in such a group. For example, community psychologists working in community health, local government or NGOs anywhere in Australia, or members seeking to apply community psychology principles in a private practice or individual therapy context, might like to link up.
You might also be interested in how community psychology organisations in other countries have been responding to COVID-19 as it unfolds in their particular contexts:

That time is 1am Sat AEST but 11pm might just be manageable for some night owl WA members. Their next topic on Friday, April 24 is expected to be on 'how kids and young people cope with the crisis and the lock-down‘.
