This webinar explains and explores the work with survivors and perpetrators of family violence.

Counselling psychologist Carmel O’Brien will discuss issues in working therapeutically with survivors of family violence, particularly intimate partner abuse, including:

  *   Responding to disclosures – where to start and what to ask
  *   Safety assessment and planning
  *   Noticing the signs of recovery

Community psychologist Dr Peter Streker will talk about why working with perpetrators is different to traditional therapy, and cover topics including:

  *   Applying skeptical empathy and guarding against collusion
  *   Managing men who present as victim/survivors
