Just a reminder about this evenings gathering at the North Fitzroy Star Hotel for the AGM of the APS College of Community Psychologists Victorian Section - details attached and below. Non-college members, including students, are most welcome to join us from 6pm for a special guest presentation by Professor Ann Sanson, even if you don't stay on for the AGM and then dinner to wind up the year.

What leads to a happy and healthy life? Looking back over a 32-year study - and towards the future

Ann Sanson is well known to many community, developmental and peace psychologists. Her principal research expertise is in longitudinal studies, and her interests include the role of child, family and community characteristics in the social and emotional development, health and wellbeing of children, adolescents and young adults. She has been a principal investigator on the Australian Temperament Project (ATP) since its inception in 1983, and also played a leading role in the early phases of the Longitudinal Study of Australian Children (LSAC, or Growing Up in Australia), a broadly-based national study which is following 10,000 children from their infancy in 2004. Ann has also worked with the Australian Research Alliance for Children and Youth (ARACY) to facilitate cross-disciplinary and cross-sectoral collaborative research on child and adolescent wellbeing, develop Australian prevention science, and foster knowledge exchange across sectors in order to promote the wellbeing of Australian children and youth. She was a founding member of Psychologists for Peace, and her career roles include Director of the International Conflict Resolution Centre at Melbourne University and the Australian institute for Family Studies. Ann has kindly agreed to give us a taste of her Fellows Invited Address from the recent APS Conference.
