International Women’s Day 2014

Women’s Health West, Maribyrnong Youth Services and Brimbank Youth Services invite you to a fantastic celebration of young women this International Women’s Day.

Inspiring and talented young local women will perform music and dance followed by a fundraising screening I AM A GIRL<http://www.iamagirl.com.au/>; a remarkable documentary showing the lives of six girls from around the world.

Why are we raising money?

As you know from Women’s Health West’s annual report and newsletters, the problem of securing sustainable and affordable accommodation in an accessible location has been critical for some years.

Given this, we are delighted to announce that Maribyrnong Council has approved a 21-year lease with Women’s Health West for a property in Braybrook. While this decision secures our future, the building requires significant refurbishment to make it fit for purpose. The screening of I AM A GIRL<http://www.iamagirl.com.au/> will raise funds for this work. With the generous support of people like you, we will be able to provide women and children, including those escaping family violence, with a safe and calm space to meet, become involved in community projects, and seek services. And what better day to support women in the western region but International Women’s Day!

So bring your mum, your sister, your daughter and friends and enjoy the performances, see the documentary or come for the whole event!
