The Miles Franklin Literary Award Oration

Please find attached your invitation to the 2012 Rob Riley Memorial Lecture on Friday 4 May 2012.

This year's lecture is presented by former Young Australian of the Year, Ms Tania Major. Tania is a Kokoberra woman from the remote community of Kowanyama in Cape York, Queensland.

Tania's presentation will outline her current work to build capabilities in communities from the inside-out, rather than replicate the all too prevalent 'outside-in' approach to community development. She strongly believes that change happens one person, one family at a time, and will outline her approach to individual rather than collective engagement and activity.
