The APS College of Community Psychologists is co-hosting a tour at The Dax Centre whilst their current exhibition: Melancholia is on display.

The Dax Centre has emerged out of the Cunningham Dax Collection, which operated as a unit within the Mental Health Research Institute (MHRI) for the past 20 years. All works have been created by people who have experienced mental illness or trauma. It is anticipated that this internationally recognized collection of art will continue to grow from comprising 15,000 works to over 20,000 works over the next five to ten years.

The current exhibition at the Dax Centre explores the meaning of melancholia. Often understood as an artistic, introspective or poetic mood, melancholia is also used to describe sadness, mourning and depression. This exhibition explores the concept of melancholia, its relationship with depression and links to creativity.

A beautiful and poignant collection of works large and small, melancholia is an exquisite exploration of sadness in all its forms and the effect these emotions have on art and the mind.

All welcome but RSVP is a must for catering purposes, by Tuesday 18th October
