Cancer and Fertility PhD Research Scholarship (x2)

Applications are invited from two highly motivated graduates seeking to undertake doctoral projects as part of an Australian Research Council (ARC) Linkage project "The construction and experience of fertility in the context of cancer: patient, partner and health professional perspectives". This project is a collaboration between the UWS Health Services and Outcomes (HSO) Research Group and the Cancer Council New South Wales, National Breast Cancer Foundation, CanTeen, Westmead Hospital, Nepean Hospital, and Family Planning NSW.

About the Project

The aims of the project are to investigate the construction and experience of fertility post-cancer for people with cancer and their partners, using a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods; identify pathways that influence ability to negotiate fertility concerns post-cancer; examine the constructs underpinning the perspectives of professional stakeholders; and to develop a psycho-educational information package, which will be evaluated from the perspective of people with cancer and their partners, as well as health professionals. One of the PhD students will focus on the constructions and experiences of individuals with breast cancer, and the other will examine health professional perspectives, and the effectiveness of the intervention.
