Film Fundraiser! The Tall Man

The Victorian College of Community Psychologists invites you to a film fundraiser to support a Mongolian community bio-toilet project.

Last year’s recipient of the APS Grant for Intercultural &/or International Projects, Doug Scott and the grant-funded guest Ms. Khongorzul (Zola) Amarsannaa from the National Centre for Human Rights and Development and the National Centre Against Violence in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, will provide an update on the bio-toilet project and how this fundraiser can assist.

Come along to help raise funds & see a challeniging new Australian film…

Based on the book by Chloe Harper, The Tall Man chronicles the events surrounding the death in custody case of Cameron Doomadgee at the Palm Island police station in Queensland. In 2004, Doomadgee was arrested for drunkenness. Forty-five minutes later he was dead and his injuries were likened to someone who had suffered a fatal car crash, while police claimed he had tripped on a step. This gritty, compelling documentary follows the trial of the Senior Sergeant involved (Chris Hurley) as well as the Doomadgee family as they struggle to understand exactly what happened on that fatal evening (Cinema Nova).
