CELEBRATIONS AND BEYOND!
The what, why and how of PBA endorsement as community psychologists

FACILITATORS Catherine D’Arcy, Heather Gridley and Community College Victorian Section committee members

WHEN? Friday 13th May – 7.00-9.30pm

WHERE? The Carringbush Room, Retreat Hotel

226 Nicholson St, Abbotsford

COST? No charge (apart from your meal and drinks) – this party’s on us!

Community College members, students and others interested are invited to celebrate with us following our successful campaign to have Community Psychology accepted alongside the other psychology specialisations for endorsement with the Psychologists Registration Board of Australia (PBA), share a meal, hear the latest news regarding membership of the College, supervised practice and Continuing Professional Development (CPD), and give us your ideas about how we can best support our members and aspiring members though these new requirements.

This interactive session will review the current requirements for APS membership, College membership and National registration/endorsement/CPD, and consider ways in which the college might support new graduates setting about locating themselves in the “real” world. The focus of the evening will be generated by participants themselves, but we expect to cover such questions as:

· What does being a member of the Community College involve?

· How are new requirements for registration and APS/college membership impacting on students and graduates?

· What might a Community Psychology approach to supervision and mentoring look like?

· How have others managed the transition from graduate to practitioner?

· In what ways can the group be supportive of young or beginning community psychologists?
