[Commpsych] Invitation to Open Meeting with PBA in WA Wednesday 15/9: Opportunity to support Community Psychology

Dear Colleagues

As you are probably aware the new National Registration Scheme for
Psychologists (NRAS) in Australia has not endorsed Community Psychology and
Health Psychology as specialized areas of psychological practice and has
thus put our existence under threat. Members of the APS Colleges of
Community and Health Psychologists are working hard to have this decision
reversed and for both areas to be endorsed.

As detailed below, the Chair, Professor Brin Grenyer, and the WA
representative, Professor Alfred Allan, of the new Psychologists Board of
Australia (PBA) are holding an open forum in Perth on this coming Wednesday
to discuss the new national registration scheme. This meeting is an
excellent opportunity for us to demonstrate our support, to the PBA, for
recognition of community and health psychology as endorsed areas of
psychological practice, and to ask the PBA to continue to press for our
inclusion in the scheme. The more people we have there in support the
stronger our message will be.

This meeting is open to all psychologists - you do not have to be currently
registered or members of the APS.

Please email me on a.sibbel at ecu.edu.au if you would like any further
information. I do hope to see you there.

Kind regards

Anne Sibbel
