[Commpsych] There are petitions and petitions.. as Paul Keating once said, or might have...

Paul Keating had a great line: 'In any two horse race always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.'

The Good News is that we now have more than 2300 signatures on our petition to have community and health psychology endorsed as specialist areas of practice under the new national health practitioner registration scheme. We can give you more details if you wish (see attached), but what would be helpful right now is a click on the link to the petition (if the link doesn't work directly, best cut and paste it into your browser and proceed from there.)

The site is: http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/endorse-community-psychology.html <http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/endorse-community-psychology.html>

This is an online petition which is directed to Hon John Hill, MP, who is Chair of the Ministerial Council which determines endorsement for the specialities in psychology. We would greatly appreciate your using your networks to attract as many signatures as possible.

By way of comparison, I'm embarrassed to say, there are only 915 signatures on the petition to restore the Racial Discrimination Act in the Northern Territory, so can I encourage you to sign this one too, before it expires tomorrow (May 31st). It's always difficult to take a stand on an issue where there could be a range of views within Indigenous communities themselves, but the Indigenous psychologists I've spoken to are 100% in support of this position:

Thanks!
