This workshop is about:

Many of us are interested in creating supportive, child friendly & inclusive communities for achieving the best possible outcomes for children & families: whether we are part of a school interested in best possible children's education; we are health, church or community workers passionate about making a difference for isolated families or we are residents wanting to make sure the local neighborhood is one where our own children thrive. This idea of child friendly community is an exciting one which potentially brings together many interests & energies. It is also one that has already been the basis of important successes & learnings in a number of projects. Broadmeadows Early Years Partnership and Bayswater West Community Hub Action Group are two projects with some experience of establishing such community/school collaborations. This workshop will hear from both projects and invite others to share their learnings & ideas. It will explore the processes, what has been achieved so far and what has been learned along the way. The workshop will be interactive with plenty of opportunity to discuss, network, share and display experiences, tools, documents and contacts.

This workshop is for: Schools, psychologists, researchers, community workers, students, residents, anyone interested in how school & community collaborations can contribute to a wide range of outcomes including education, engagement of families, children's health, social inclusion, community strengthening & community development.
