2.6 Associate Director, Student Community & Liaison
Ormond College is seeking to appoint a key member of staff who will play a central role in building a student community which enhances the lives of its individual members by assisting them to flourish. In consultation with the Director Learning & Community and the Ormond College Students' Club the Associate Director's role will be to create a safe and supportive culture in which students can both discover and develop their resilience and strengths. To this end, the Associate Director will be involved with the selection of students to enter the College, the construction of strategic programs designed to foster a community of inclusivity, tolerance and respect, the delivery of positive-psychology learning opportunities and the delivery of preventative interventions which address common health issues. The Associate Director will also need to work with the student community to resolve issues when students do not act according to the values of the College. The Associate Director will need to attend key student events, such as social gatherings and sporting contests, to help foster a relationship of trust, understanding and respect with students. He or she will also need to ensure appropriate support is available for individuals in need of advice or professional counseling. From the work done in this position the Associate Director will advise the College on the programs and structures needed to best address the needs and concerns of students. It is expected that the Associate Director will be involved in Ormond life well beyond normal working hours during semester times. Appropriate leave arrangements will be negotiated before appointment to compensate for this commitment.
