Good Morning,

Please see the attached flyer and information sheet for an upcoming Sudanese Youth BBQ at Mossfiel Reserve, Hoppers Crossing. Saturday 18th December @ 12:30 - 2:00 PM.

Below is information on the aims of the BBQ (consultation with young people) and also on the aims of youth services at New Hope.

The aims of these consultation sessions are:


  *   to gather refugee young peoples' thoughts on social and personal issues that they are facing in their resettlement and throughout adolescents;
  *   to gather refugee young peoples' ideas on activities that they would like to be actively involved in;
  *   to discuss day trips that the young people are interested in attending in the summer school holidays; and
  *   to find out more about information that young people would like to know that can help them to settle well in Wyndham and Hobson's Bay.

The overall objectives of the New Hope Foundation's Youth Settlement Services are:

  *   For young people to develop leadership and organisational skills through leadership training and the organising of events and activities;
  *   To provide educational sessions to young people from refugee backgrounds to assist them in settling well;
  *   To empower young people from refugee backgrounds through the development of knowledge and leadership skills;
  *   To create refugee youth committees;
  *   To develop with young people creative projects or events that are responsive to their needs and aspirations; and

*         To provide enjoyable recreational and sporting activities that young people can be actively involved in.
