Thursday 12 February 2009
9:00am - 5:00pm (followed by a cocktail reception)
Queensland Conservatorium, South Bank. Brisbane, Queensland

What is meant by The Good Life? Does it mean the same to all Australians? Did 'the good old days' really exist? As Australian governments implement a social inclusion agenda to achieve thsi ideal, some of Australia's leading thinkers explore the evidence, consider how social inclusion aspirations can contribute, and the role our governments and social institutions can play in achieving the good life for all Australians.

This conference will explore The Good Life in three linked sessions:
1.        Thinking about the Good Life: a philosophical segment focusing on the Good Life and community wellbeing;
2. Are we there yet? a session drawing on historical analyses and date on trends in Australia since World War 2; and
3. Achieving the Good Life: focusing on the effectiveness of policies, programs and interventions to improve wellbeing, and particularly to address poverty and social exclusion.
